Your Self Assessment Tax Timetable for tax year 2024 / 25

It comes around every year and yet filing patterns indicate that many tax payers leave their submissions until the final days. In 2022 / 2023 tax year 800,000 taxpayers filed on the day of the deadline and around 36,000 submitted in the last hour.
We get it, life is busy and there is so much that happens once you have submitted your self assessment. We want to make it easier for you this year by creating a count down calendar of key tasks you can tackle each month to ensure
UK Tax Preparation Timetable (May – September 2025)
May 2025
✅ Start gathering documents for the 2024/25 tax year (which ended on 5 April 2025)
✅ Collect P60 (employment income summary) from employer
✅ Obtain P11D (if you receive benefits in kind)
✅ Gather bank interest statements, dividend summaries, and investment records
✅ Organise pension contribution records and Gift Aid donations
✅ Review self-employment income and expenses (if applicable)
✅ Collect rental income & related expense records (if you’re a landlord)
June 2025
✅ Review and categorise your financial records
✅ Ensure all business receipts and invoices are organised
✅ Check for any tax relief claims (e.g., professional subscriptions, working-from-home expenses)
✅ Chase any missing documents (e.g., bank statements, loan interest statements)
✅ Discuss any complex tax issues with your accountant
July 2025
✅ Submit your records to your accountant (if you haven’t already)
✅ If you plan to file a paper tax return, prepare for the 31 October deadline
✅ Review profit/loss statements if self-employed or a landlord
August 2025
✅ Go through any queries raised by your accountant
✅ Ensure you have a tax payment plan in place (if due in January 2026)
✅ Start thinking about tax planning for the 2025/26 tax year
September 2025
✅ Final check-in with your accountant to review estimated tax liability
✅ Consider making additional pension contributions or tax-efficient investments
✅ Ensure all financial documents are stored securely for future reference
